Educational video for new families with an infant with DSD
We are excited to offer a new translation for our educational video about an infant undergoing evaluation for DSD, which is now available in both English and Spanish.
These 8-minute videos provide a detailed introduction to the concepts related to DSD in the context of a supportive message. These videos provide an invaluable resource for NICU staff, general pediatricians, pediatric residents, and pediatric endocrinologists to use when communicating challenging information about genital development with families. We encourage parents to watch and share these videos with family members.
(The videos were developed by a subcommittee of the DSD SIG (in collaboration with the PES Education Committee) led by Kanthi Bangalore Krishna and Selma Witchel, with digital media expertise provided by Lauren Wood Heickman, and collaborative team effort by Anshu Gupta, Yee-Ming Chan, Sue Stred, Courtney Finlayson and Meilan Rutter with Spanish language interpretation provided by Pedro Pagan Banchs and Marcela Vargas Trujillo. The video incorporates recommendations from parents, patient advocates and interdisciplinary DSD specialists).
